Weave WV Training – Integrating Domestic Violence and Substance Use in Safety Planning

August 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

August 6 – 12:00pm

It has long been recognized that abuse by an intimate partner increases a person’s risk for developing a range of health conditions, including substance use disorders (SUD). Research has found high rates of both past and current intimate partner violence (IPV) among people in SUD treatment settings. At the same time, survivors often face siloed services with little access to support that can meet them where they are. To the contrary, survivors who use substances are often blamed for the victimization they experience, actively screened out of services, and/or criminalized for their survival. This training session will provide tangible tools for service providers to deliver healing-centered support that is rooted in empowerment, connection, safety, and self-determination.
