This annual seminar features lectures and panel discussions on a variety of neonatal and related issues. The program is designed
for neonatologists, pediatricians, obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, family physicians, nurses and other allied
health professionals involved in the care of mothers and neonatal infants.
Objectives
Upon completion of this seminar, participants should be able to:
- Identify current issues in substance abuse in West Virginia
- Discuss current treatment and management of antennal substance abuse
- Review the treatment of neonatal abstinence syndrome
- Discuss new methods to detect substances in mothers and babies
- Review the study to investigate alcohol abuse in pregnancy
- Identify current efforts to solve substance abuse issues in West Virginia
- Review current uses of donor milk and milk banking
- Discuss the use of breast milk in the NICU
- Review the prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis in the newborn
- Discuss the surgical aspects of short gut syndrome
