
2023 Perinatal Spring Conference

$20.00This conference will provide an opportunity for nurses, social workers, doulas, coordinators, and home visitation team members to learn new information, review updates, and share ideas for better health outcomes for mothers and babies.
Objectives
• Identify strategies to avoid unnecessary supplementation with Breastfeeding.
• Discuss risk-appropriate care and delivery in the right place to prevent preterm birth & improve maternal and infant outcomes.
• Describe the benefits of continuous labor support.
• List social determinants of health that impact childbearing women and their families throughout West Virginia.
• Discover new ideas regarding bereavement care for mothers whose newborn is removed from her care.
• Recognize the benefits of peer counseling for mothers with substance use disorder.
• Review the latest safe sleep updates from the American Academy of Pediatrics & describe prevention of Sudden Unexpected Postnatal Collapse.
• Explain next steps when a woman answers “yes” to your question about intimate partner violence.
• Discuss increase of syphilis cases in West Virginia from obstetric and pediatric viewpoints and how to care for the infected mother-baby dyad.
