SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed Care for the Perinatal Provider
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-Informed Care for the Perinatal Provider: A Workshop to Move Us From Individual Trauma-Awareness to a Trauma-Responsive and Healing Centered System\nTuesday\, December 2\, 2025 – 8:00 am–12:00 pm\nErickson Alumni Center\,\nMorgantown\, WV \n\n\nTarget Audience:\nPhysicians\, nurses\, midwives\, nurse practitioners\, behavioral health providers\, and those who may be caring for pregnant and postpartum people. \nPrerequisite:\nAttended or viewed Dr. Vogel’s presentation on Friday of the 2025 WV Perinatal Summit on The Intersection of Psychological Trauma and Childbirth. \nThere are 100 seats available for this workshop. Priority registration will be given to those who attended Dr. Vogel’s presentation until EOD November 16th. Those who did not attend in person but would like to attend the workshop will be placed on a waitlist and notified when registration opens on November 17th. \nObjectives:\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants should be able to: \n\nUnderstand how previous traumatic experiences predispose individuals to re-traumatization during the childbirth period and recognize specific antepartum risk factors associated with postpartum mental health conditions.\nIdentify intrapartum traumatic events that increase the risk for the development of postpartum depression\, anxiety\, and PTSD and recognize the role of the obstetric provider in preventing trauma.\nUnderstand the significant consequences of a traumatic birth on the mother\, the mother-baby dyad\, the child\, and society.\nImplement trauma-informed principles on the labor and delivery units to improve maternal health outcomes.\n\nFor more information\, contact:\nCaroline Crislip – ccrislip@wvperinatal.org \n \nThis program is made possible through a generous grant from the WV Department of Human Services\, Bureau for Behavioral Health. \n\n\n \nSpeaker\nTracey Vogel\, MD\nObstetric Anesthesiologist\nDirector of the Perinatal Trauma-Informed Care Clinic\nPittsburgh PA

SUMMARY:Monthly Love Your Birth Control Virtual Training
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Webinar Series – “Empowering women to choose the birth control method that works for them!” \nEmpowering women to choose the birth control method that works for them! \n\n\nFollowing the training\, participants can request to receive the materials discussed for use in their practice. Materials include posters for clinics and offices\, education grids for patient discussions\, and patient education cards for handouts to clients. All materials are commercial-free and provided at no cost to training participants. \n\n\nBy the end of this presentation\, participants will be able to: \n\n\nList different methods of contraception\, their uses\, and risks and benefits of each\, including resources for factual information about different methods of contraception and myths about birth control\nDemonstrate methods for assisting women to learn about birth control using a client-led approach and interactive education grid\nIdentify ways to build rapport\, and overcome barriers to access to contraception\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese trainings are offered once per month. Register above. \nTrainings are appropriate for clinical and non-clinical staff\, as using the same reassuring and non-judgmental language is imperative to build rapport and allow free flow of information.\nCEUs and CME’s will be provided.\n  \nIf you are interested in having a site-specific training\, an in-person or virtual training can be planned for your office.
