Pregnant persons with Substance Use Disorder and the families of those affected by Substance Use Disorder are more vulnerable to complicated grieving symptoms
following loss.

The West Virginia Perinatal Partnership is developing a toolkit and curriculum for health care professionals caring for persons with substance use disorder experiencing an infant loss, whether from child protective services involvement, stillborn, or demise. The initiative will focus on providing resources and training to hospital providers to give them the skills needed to successfully intervene with these patients to help them access treatment and other needed services, including resources to help with reunification when possible, prior to discharge.
